Objective

Pacific Federal Management required a high-resolution topographic map of a 40-acre, heavily vegetated site slated for future development. Traditional surveying methods would have been slow, labor-intensive, costly and limited by the dense canopy.

Approach

2cofly deployed a dual-sensor aerial survey using LiDAR and photogrammetry.

LiDAR was used to penetrate vegetation and produce precise ground-elevation data for topographic modeling.
Photogrammetry was conducted simultaneously to create a high-resolution visual basemap, giving the client a true-to-life representation the site.

The entire site was scanned in one day of flight operations, followed by several days of data processing to deliver engineering outputs (Digital Elevation Model and contours).

Result

The combined LiDAR and photogrammetry datasets provided Pacific Federal Management with dense, actionable terrain data, essential for design planning, drainage assessment, and site development in an otherwise challenging environment. The project exemplified how drone-based remote sensing can drastically shorten survey timelines while maintaining high positional accuracy.
